The Creation of Animals by Raphael
Apparently bestiality is the new fad of perversions. The Canadian Supreme Court just upheld that sexual acts with an animal are not illegal so long as the act is not penetrative. This is so wrong in so many ways.
Humanity is the masterpiece above all God’s creation; we have been given dominion over all the other animals on Earth (rf. Genesis 1:26). We are made in His image. To therefore have sexual relations with an animal, wild or domestic, is to commit sacrilege. It brings humanity down to the level of animals and mocks the gift of sexuality God has given for humans to express in the confines of marriage with each other. God thus warns, “You shall not have sexual relations with an animal, defiling yourself with it” (Leviticus 18:23). In fact in the Old Covenant bestiality was taken so seriously that the penalty was death (rf. Exodus 22:19).
Of course, we are no longer under the restrictions of the judicial law, for Christ has offered us the forgiveness of sins which we can attain any time in Baptism, Confession, Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick. While we are called to have mercy on those who commit such grave sins; we must be careful not to promote such acts as good. Saint Thomas Aquinas stated, “[J]ustice without mercy is cruelty, while mercy without justice is the mother of destruction” (Commentary on Matthew).
Bear in mind that while the court only legalized oral sex with animals, the next step is to legalize penetrative sex with animals. That is how progressivism works. It progresses or advances from one subject to another and seeks some rationale to justify it.
