Another Sex Scandal

“And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea.”

Another seminarian was arrested for trying to hook up with infants.

That is very disturbing. Do this people seem to care the kind of damage they inflict on other people, the kind of bad reputation they give the Catholic Church, the number of people they lead away from God and the Church? They’re so caught up in their self-gratification that they can care less for the ramifications of their actions.

Interesting how Jesus Christ mentioned the “little ones” in the same passage where he mentions the hand and Gehenna which in Saint Matthew’s Gospel is tied to adultery.  He could have been talking about people prey on children for their own sick fantasies.  Though of course this verse refers to sin in general, in its literal sense it can very likely be referring to sexual sins.

It is no shock that pedophilia is a mental illness and as such, those who have it don’t just get rid of their desires overnight.  It’s also no shock that pedophiles don’t show any sympathy for anybody but themselves even if it’s a misplaced sympathy as they use others to their sexual advantage.  That is why pedophiles do not care what the consequences of their actions are: they don’t care if it means millions of more dollars in settlement fees to the families of the victims, or if it means a couple more people leaving Church and thus jeopardizing their own salvation, or if it means their victims never heal from the abuse, or if the thousands of decent priests are attacked by the enemies of the Church as somehow all child molesters, pedophiles and their enablers.

Pray for those who are stuck in this sickness and pray for their victims.
